5 Places to Get Free Moving Boxes

Moving can be very expensive! From purchasing moving supplies, to hiring movers to all the costs that come with transitioning from your old place to your new place. Wouldn't it be great to alleviate some those costs? No worries! I'm here to share 5 ways to secure boxes for your upcoming move for FREE!

1. Craigslist

This platform has a “Free” section, where locals list belongings they want to give away. Go to your local Craigslist page & search “Free Moving Boxes”

2. Facebook Marketplace

Similar to Craigslist, locals can post items they wish to give away. Search “Free Moving Boxes”

3. Retail Stores

Large stores like Target, Walmart, Costco, Sam’s Club as well as Dollar General & Family Dollar have shipments arriving on a daily/weekly basis. Simply go on the day and time they restock and ask an associate if they have boxes (typically Tuesday or Wednesday mornings with the exception of Walmart - they stock at night)

4. U-Haul

U-Haul’s Customer Connect Box Exchange Program helps customer give away/find boxes & moving supplies

5. Grocery Stores

Similar to retail stores, grocery stores receive shipments on a daily/weekly basis. Simply go inside and ask an associate if they have any boxes

Have/would you ever try this? Let me know!
